Bill Grants Amnesty To 12 Million Illegals!!

I got an e-mail alert from Citizens Lobby (www.citizenslobby.com) that tells about legislation that has been introduced by Senator's John McCain and Ted Kennedy that would grant permanent legal status to 10 to 12 million illegal aliens plus bring in 400,000 new foreign guest workers every year under the H-5A visa program. The illegals and new guest workers will have to pay fines ranging from $500 to $1,000, but they will be allowed to bring their children and spouses into the country. You can read the bill, S. 1033 at, http://thomas.loc.gov/home/thomas.html . The House version, H.R. 2330 is sponsored by Representative's Jim Kolbe (R-AZ) and Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) The legislation is titled, "The Secure America & Orderly Immigration Act Of 2005". For some reason I don't see how granting amnesty to illegal aliens is going to secure America. You can sign the Citizens Lobby petition to stop amnesty by going to, http://www.citizenslobby.com/petitions.htm . I would like to ask you to contact your elected officials, http://www.citizenslobby.com/congress.htm and urge them to oppose this amnesty granting legislation. Tell them that if they want to secure America they need to put troops on our borders.

GYSGT Galen F. Humphrey USMC

I wear a stainless steel bracelet which has, "GYSGT Galen F. Humphrey, USMC, 02/01/66, NVN/OW" engraved on it. GYSGT Humphrey was Saint Joseph, Missouri's only POW/MIA from the war in Vietnam. I got to meet his wife and children, that makes this bracelet mean even more to me. Today along with anything else that I do I will be thinking about what GYSGT Humphrey and others like him did for their country. I hope that you will take just a few minutes of your day to read about GYSGT Humphrey at, http://www.taskforceomegainc.org/h182.html . He is just one of the many we are honoring and remembering today.

Have a Safe and Happy Memorial Day.

Question Of The Week 5/29/05

We all know that the First Amendment to the United State Constitution protects our freedom of religion, (or from in the ACLU version, more on that at, http://stoptheaclu.blogspot.com ) and the Second Amendment protects our right to keep and bear arms. I'm not going to comment on all of them, I want to get to the Question Of The Week, you can read them at, http://www.harbornet.com/rights/usbor.txt I don't know about everyone else but I feel that one of the first 10 Amendments to the United States Constitution is often forgotten, or ignored by our elected officials and a large number of United States citizens. So, this weeks Question Of The Week is, Which of the first 10 Amendments is the Forgotten Amendment? If your interested in my answer I'll post that in the comment section early Monday morning.

A Message From DownsizeDC.org Part 3

On Wednesday, March 30,2005 and again on April 27,2005 I posted messages (see my archives) about what I feel is a very important project that DownsizeDC.org (www.downsizedc.org) has been working on. Writing a draft for legislation that would require all members on Congress to read all of the bills they vote on before their vote is cast.

Last night I received an e-mail from DownsizeDC.org which said they have submitted legislation entitled "the Read the Bills Act of 2005" ((RTBA), to Congress, it will require members of Congress to, " * Read every word of every bill before a vote can be held on that bill.
* Read every word of every old law that comes up for renewal under the sunset provisions.
* Publish every bill on the Internet at least 7 days before a vote is held, to allow time for public comment."

I don't know about you but I don't feel this is something our members of Congress have been in the habit of doing in the past. If you or I were about to sign a legal contract we would read it thoroughly before signing it. Congress should think of voting on a bill as signing a legal contract. Not reading the contract could cost you or I money, not reading the bill should cost them votes in the next election. I hope you will help DownsizeDC.org by showing your support for this legislation.

You can read an extensive summary of RTBA at, http://www.downsizedc.org/read_the_laws.shtml Or you can read the entire RTBA at, http://www.downsizedc.org/rtba_legislation.shtml If you would like to send a message to your elected officials urging them to sponsor the RTBA go to, http://action.downsizedc.org/wyc.php?cid=27 there you will be provided with a pre-written message which you can edit.

Help D.C. Area Residents

The 1976 Washington, D.C. Gun Ban stripped the D.C. areas residents of their Second Amendment rights. A February 28, 2003 column By Robert Levy (http://www.cato.org/research/articles/levy-030228.html) which tells about an unsuccessful law suit to get their rights restored says, "For starters, no handgun can be registered in D.C. Even those pistols registered prior to the District's 1976 ban cannot be carried from room to room in the home without a license. Moreover, all firearms in the home, including rifles and shotguns, must be unloaded and either disassembled or bound by a trigger lock. In effect, no one in the District can possess a functional firearm in his or her own residence. The law applies not just to "Unfit" persons like felons, minors or the mentally incompetent, but across-the-board to ordinary, honest, responsible citizens." If you wake up to the sound of a thug or thief forcing their way into your home your not going to have time to get your weapon, unlock the trigger lock and load it before you are over powered by the intruder, and unless the police cruiser is parked right in front of your house forget about dialing 911. I don't mean to put the police down, but they can't be everywhere.

Two bills have been introduced in congress that would make it possible for D.C. residents to defend themselves. To read them go to, http://thomas.loc.gov/home/thomas.html and type in H.R. 1288 for the House bill or S. 1082 for the Senate version. Please contact your elected officials and urge them to support this legislation.

Brady Campaign Ask To Tell The Truth

I just read an article that tells about the legislation that has been introduced that would restore Washington D.C. area residents right of self-defense. The legislation would end a 30 year old gun ban that has made the area's law abiding citizens the helpless victims of a countless number of thugs and thieves that know they are safe, their victims are unarmed. If passed this legislation could force them to find a new line of work. Of course the Brady campaign will be opposing this legislation as a part of their efforts to keep us all safe. At least that is the reason they give for supporting gun control. The article says, "The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms(CCRKBA) today challenged the Brady group to publicly acknowledge that it consistently supports bans on the private ownership of firearms, despite claims to the contrary." Alan Gottlieb of CCRKBA noted some of the Brady Campaigns history of supporting gun bans, "on lightweight handguns with polymer components, on sport-utility rifles, on large caliber target rifles, on big handguns because they are powerful, on small handguns because they are concealable, and on inexpensive handguns because people can afford them." Gottlieb suggested they change their name to the Brady Campaign to Eradicate the Private Ownership of Firearms. I agree with Gottlieb, everything that I have ever read about the Brady Campaign tells me that their number one goal is to disarm all law abiding citizens.

You Might Be A...

I was just checking out the Constitution Party web site (www.constitutionparty.com) because I hadn't done it in a while. Some thing in the News Archives got my attention. A 1/28/05 column by Chuck Baldwin (The Constitution Party's 2004 candidate for Vice President) titled, "You Might Be A Constitutionalist If...". Chuck does this the same way an e-mail joke that was going around sometime ago was done"You might be a redneck if..." some of you may have seen it. I started thinking, we're all Constitutionalist in a way. Some would be Liberal Constitutionalist, others would be Conservative Constitutionalist and then there would be the Constitutionalist. I hope you will check out Chucks column (http://www.constitutionparty.com/news.php?aid=156 and see if you aren't at least part Constitutionalist. No, this is not The Question Of The Week, but I do have one ready for Sunday, I hope you'll be back to answer that for me.

CAFTA, Pro Or Con

I was just checking my e-mail, so that will be behind me before I go to work tonight. I got an e-mail some of you might be interested in, the American Economic Alert. There were several articles on the latest free trade nightmare, the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA). I don't know if there is anyone out there that hasn't decided if they support or oppose CAFTA or not, if there is I hope this will be of some help.

The first article, "Trading down?" from the Washington Times Commentary, By Alan Tonelson, http://www.washtimes.com/commentary20050517-091434-8721r.htm says, "For example, CAFTA's champions contend it will create major new export markets for goods and services, and increase U.S. output, employment and wages." Is it just me or is that what we were told about the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)?

The second article, http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/business/11664267.htm from The State.com, By Lauren Markoe tells us that CAFTA might not be an easy sell and why. "CAFTA, a priority for the Bush administration that could pave the way for other free trade treaties, will have an uphill battle in Congress next month-even its supporters acknowledge." Pave the way for other free trade treaties? None of the past treaties have worked, why do we need more?

The third article comes from Fox News, By Kelley Beaucar Vlahos, "CAFTA Reinvigorates Job-Loss Issue", http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,156719,00.html It should reinvigorate the job loss issue, since we started getting into free trade agreements our number 1 export has become jobs. "You have to wonder what advantage it will have to the United States-I think the only advantage would be for companies who want to move overseas," said Rep. Michael Michaud, D-Maine, who argues that his state has suffered enough under past agreements."

The fourth article, http://www.greatfallstribune./apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050515/BUSINESS505150309/1046/NEWS01 The administrations seems to be trying pretty hard to sell CAFTA to the farmers and ranchers. "Power-area rancher Erik Somerfeld believes American-raised beef is the best in the world, but he doesn't think many Central Americans can afford it." Years ago I heard a wise man say you don't do business with a person that can't pay you, now the United States is considering entering into an agreement with some of the poorest nations in the world, http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/news/article/0,1299,DRMN_3_3780520,00.html . That's right the fight is on, contact your elected officials and urge them to say no to CAFTA.

There were more articles on CAFTA in this e-mail, but I'm going to end my post with a letter to the editor of The Washington Times, Looking Out For Our Best Interests, http://www.washtimes.com/op-ed/20050513-093732-5585r.htm .

In case you hadn't guessed I'm opposed to CAFTA as I was to NAFTA. NAFTA did not help the working men and women in any of the three countries involved, making it bigger will not make it better. The only people that will gain are the ones that will move more factories out of the country if this agreement is passed. I guess the title to this post could have been, CAFTA A Con By The Pro's.

Local Law Enforcement Officials Get Immigration Law Training

I just read an article that tells about legislation that was passed by the House that authorizes giving $40 million to state and local governments to be used to train their law enforcement officials to enforce federal immigration laws. I feel this is a better move than the Senate made last week when they made it more difficult for law abiding citizens to get or renew their drivers license. You can get more information on the new legislation at, http://homeland.house.gov .

China Has Been Warned

I just finished reading a column By Charles Smith of Soft War.Net (www.softwar.net) that was published by News Max.Com at http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2005/5/15/205242.shtml .The article says that the Bush administration has warned China about selling advanced weapons technology. Beijing has been told that if the practice isn't stopped they could face tough sanctions.

I can remember the Cold War, the news media lead us to believe that the U.S.S.R. was about the only country we had to fear. Just before the Cold War as it was called came to an end I met a man that had spent a good deal of time in the military, (Military Intelligence) he had just gotten out. He was trying to convince people that they should not be so concerned about the U.S.S.R., he said that China was the country that the United States, and the rest of the world should be concerned about. A lot of people figured he had lost it, some thought that was why he was no longer in the service. Since that time I have figured out that he was right, any time I see an article like this one, or when I'm forced to make a trip to a department store I think of him.

Anyone that feels that China is ally of the United States should read the Charles Smith column and visit his site.

I Would Pay More

A May 14, 2005 Associated Press article, "U.S. Textile Makers Praise Chinese Quotas" By Martin Crutsinger says that the Bush administration announced on Friday that it was re-imposing quotas on three clothing categories. In the article, "Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez said in announcing the decision that the government had found that the surge in shipments from China since Jan. 1 was disrupting the domestic market." I'm sorry but the surge in shipments from China was disrupting the domestic market long before Jan. 1. A trip to any department store in the United States would have told you that years ago. The article also says that retailers have opposed the re-imposition of quotas, arguing that it will mean higher costs for United States customers. I don't know about you but I wouldn't mind paying a little more for an piece of clothing that was made in the United States knowing that I was promoting jobs for United States citizens. Don't think for one minute that these retailers are as concerned about what United States made products would cost their customers as they are about what it would cost them to stock their shelves with United States made products.

Question Of The Week, 5/15/05

This has been one busy week, and I still can't see that I've got anything done. Now it's time for the Question Of The Week. I just saw the Subject Line to one of my e-mails promoting a Fair Tax System. To me that would mean do away with the Federal Income Tax and replace it with a Federal Sales Tax. What Do you feel would be a fair tax, a Flat Tax, Federal Sales Tax or should the current Income Tax be left in place?

Real ID Passed!

This morning I was rather surprised when I checked over 40 blog sites that I have blog marked. I found that after the United States Senate passed legislation that will create a National ID Card it had not been mentioned on any of these sites. I would have thought that more people would be upset about legislation that will effect just about everything they do in their daily lives. I wasn't one bit surprised when brought up the Federal Observer (www.federalobserver.com) to hear what an old friend (Jeffrey Bennett) and patriot had to say about this piece of work on his morning broadcast. You can read a short article Jeff wrote on the subject at, http://www.federalobserver.com/archive.php?aid=9779 . If you wait a couple of days Jeff will have this mornings program posted in his Audio Archives at the Federal Observer. The whole idea of the uniform drivers license reminds me of the former U.S.S.R. or Hitler's Nazi Germany, something most Americans opposed.

I also read a Charlotte Iserbyt column about the National ID Card, (http://www.newswithviews.com/iserbyt/iserbyt24.htm) in it she says, "The U.S. Senate's unanimous vote on the REAL ID card is a tragedy for our nation. What an abuse of the U.S. Constitution! Gastly news."

that's right, unanimous, all one hundred of our Senators supported this bill. That means that the next time I see any of their names on a ballot running for any office I'll vote for their opponent. As a matter of fact I'll vote for someone from a different party.

Safety or Gas Price Issue

We have a little 29 cc gas powered scooter out in the shed. I haven't had it out yet this year. It needs cleaned up and air in it's tires. The weather so far this year has been strange, in the 40's one day and the 80's the next so I hadn't thought much about the scooter.

Today I've been thinking about our scooter and a couple of news articles I've read recently. One of them was By Martha Irvine an AP National Writer, "Bans on Motorized Scooters Increasing". This article addresses safety issues and bans that have been put on the scooters. It talks about people that let their 8 and 9 year old kids ride them on public streets, I do have a problem with that. In the article, "One transportation expert says she's especially worried about pocket bikes, which can exceed speeds of 40 mph and ride low to the ground, making them difficult to see." Ours is the brightest yellow I have ever seen making it easy to see and it will do all of 35 mph on a good down hill grade. Our local laws say you do have to have a drivers license to operate one but the scooter doesn't have to be registered or licensed. You can operate them on city streets but not state highways, which does cause some confusion, many of our city streets are state highways. Ours gets right around 200 mpg, which takes us to the next article.

A May 10, 2005 Saint Joseph News-Press article, "Gasoline prices fall to slightly under $2" tells about the good news the people that filled their tanks on Monday the 9th got, "According to an industry analyst in California, the nations average gasoline price has dropped 3 cents over the last two months, but prices are still an average of 40 cents higher than at the beginning of the year." the article goes on to tell about how some of the people in my area feel about gas prices, I'm sure all of you have seen that in your local papers. It did say that at the time the article was written the price of crude was right around $50 a barrel and predicted that we may see prices continue to drop, "before prices begin to rise for the summer." Something I'm sure we all knew was coming.

I did have a reason for mentioning these two articles at the same time. We all know the oil industry has a lot of lobbyist in Washington D.C. I have a feeling that they are somehow behind the new efforts to put more bans on my little scooter, and I'm being told they are concerned about my safety.

Excessive Force or Poor Training?

I read a Los Angeles Times article about an incident that some of you may feel is a case of excessive force (http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-chase10may10,0,2324774.story?coll=la-home-headliners Early in the morning hours of the Monday after Mothers Day ten Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies opened fire on an SUV they had been chasing. When it was all over the deputies had fired 120 rounds of ammunition injuring a deputy and wounding an unarmed suspect. The crossfire also left bullet holes in at least five homes and a neighborhood terrified. Sheriff Lee Baca has said there will be a full investigation of the incident. "The aspect of shooting in an urban area is problematic and dangerous under all circumstances," Baca said. "there's no such thing as a safe shooting under any conditions."

When I was learning to use firearms safety was stressed over and over again, as it should have been before I was ever handed a loaded firearm (they all are). One of the things that I was taught was to look beyond the intended target. Where is that round going to go, what is it going to hit if you should miss your target. If there is a chance of doing property damage or taking an innocent life, don't take the shot. I pray the Sheriff will take these ten deputies off road patrol until the investigation is over. The time off the road will give them a chance to take some firearms safety training courses.

After I read the Los Angeles Times article I started trying to remember something from the past. I couldn't so I had to go web surfing to find some information, http://texashideout.tripod.com/deathcar.html When the outlaw team of Bonnie and Clyde (known killers) was ambushed the posse fired 167 rounds into their car. That's not to many more than the deputies mentioned in the Los Angeles Times article used to get the wrong guy.

Search Your Visitors

I hadn't done much of anything today, just couldn't seem to get it together. I hadn't even read the local paper, still haven't, but I did bring http://www.accentradionetwork.com/ up on the computer when it was time for Straight Talk with Jerry Hughes. As always I was glad that I did, not that Jerry was talking about something that I thought was good news. Jerry was talking about something we should all be concerned about. One of his subjects today was a bill that has been introduced by New Jersey State Assemblyman Louis Manzo, D-Jersey City. If this bill is passed the government will be allowed to seize any car, home or business that contains an illegal firearm. I'm afraid that if passed you could lose your property if a friend gets into your car with you or if they enter your home or business while carrying an unregistered firearm rather you knew they were armed or not. When I ask Jerry about where he got the information he e-mailed me a World Net Daily article. You can read that at, http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=44183 .

I hope the good people of New Jersey can convince their elected officials to stop this bill in it's tracks. It seems to me that any time a bad law is passed in one state it spreads to other states.

I want to ask each of you to take a little time this morning to say a prayer for Jim over at Thinking Right, http://thinkingright.net/ . Seat Belt Laws

For a long time I resented the idea of being told I had to wear a seat belt because it was the law, now I wear one any time I'm in a moving motor vehicle. It's not really because I feel they save lives (in some cases they do) I wear mine because of one of the Grand Kids, when she was about five years old she always ask why she had to wear one and I didn't. I decided it was easier to put it on than argue with a five year old, she's good at arguing, she's now 13 and says she wants to be an attorney when she grows up. After a while it became automatic, I put it on rather she was with me or not.

This morning I read about a traffic accident that took place in Liberty, Missouri involving a school bus loaded with children and two cars. (http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/breaking_news11602302.htm Link might require free registration) Two people in the cars were killed and ten children were hospitalized for various injuries.

At first I was surprised by the fact that this article doesn't say if the people that were killed in the cars were wearing their seat belts or not. As a rule around here that is pointed out any time you read about a traffic accident, you could slam head on into a tractor trailer at 100 MPH and the article would read , the driver of the car died on impact, he or she was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

My wife reminded me of the fact that school buses are not equipped with seat belts. I think that is meant to save the bus company money. I'm not sure how many seats are on a school bus any more but two or three seat belts per each bench seat would equal quite a bit of money I'm sure. If I have one of the Grand Kids in the car that is not wearing a seat belt and come upon a police check point I will find myself facing a rather large fine. Bus companies on the other hand can pack a large number of kids into a school bus that isn't equipped with seat belts. I'm thinking something needs to be looked into here. I feel that somewhere in that article it should have said, the bus company was cited for not having the children in proper seat restraints.

Don't Want To Cause Any Undue Hardship

I read an Associated Press article (to tell the truth, I've read more than one article on this) about a student in Georgia that was suspended from school for ten days for refusing to end a phone call he had got from his Mother who is serving as a United States soldier in Iraq. The article said that the student had became defiant when told to end the call. All of the articles I've seen about this point out the fact the the school has rules about students receiving calls during school hours, and I agree students shouldn't be on the phone during class. From what I have read he got the call during lunch. The lunch period was about to end when he was told to end the call. I've also read the students Father died when he was five years old, so he was talking to his only parent who happens to be half way around the world putting her life on the line as a soldier. I pray for her safety, but this could have been the last time he would ever get to talk to her. I would think that the school officials would have given some thought to all of this before suspending the student. The best they could do was say that they could have had him arrested but they don't want to cause the Mother any undue hardship since she was serving in Iraq. What do you suppose all the media attention is doing for this lady? If I were the Mother the first thing I would do when I got home would be get my child out of the government training center (public school system) and start home schooling him.

Second Amendment Solidified

I just read a New American magazine article, "Second Amendment Solidified" (http://www.thenewamerican.com/artman/publish/article_1363.shtml) by Kurt Williamsen. The article tells about a Department of Justice report that says the Second Amendment does protect the right of the individual. I took that to be good news at first. Then I noticed that the article was talking about a 102 page memorandum that was placed on the Department of Justices website on December 17, 2004. If I'm not mistaken John Ashcroft would have been our Attorney General at that time. On February 3, 2005 Alberto R. Gonzales (http://www.usdoj.gov/ag/aggonzalesbio.html) was sworn in as Attorney General. Since Gonzales is in favor of reinstating the Assault Weapons Ban to protect law enforcement officers I wonder if the Department of Justice will change it's stand on the Second Amendment. I pray I'm mistaken, but I have a feeling that the Second Amendment will come under attack quite often now that Gonzales is Attorney General.

A Chance To Show Your Support

I just got an e-mail from Chuck and Mary Schantag of the POW Network, (www.pownetwork.org) they ask me to share it with as many friends as I could. Posting it here is the best way I know of to do that.

Camp Pendleton Hospital-First Marine Division

If you can Please pass the word onto friends and those private businesses that may be interested in contributing. Thanks.

Not only is Balboa Naval hospital receiving our injured heroes but the medical facilities at Camp Pendleton are also at near "No Vacancy" populations. In the latter case it's not money that is needed for our wounded Marines at Camp Pendleton but stuff.

Here's why and what they need: At the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom, some of the spouses of deployed Marines put together hundreds of recovery baskets in anticipation of wounded Marines arriving at our military hospitals. The purpose behind these baskets was provide the wounded with personal items to be used during their hospital stay and to help fill up their days while being confined in the hospitals. However, due to the higher than anticipated numbers of wounded, they are all but out of supplies to outfit these baskets.

In the past I have said (and I have heard others agree) it doesn't matter if we support or oppose the war, we should support the men and women that choose to serve their country. Well here's a chance for us to put our thoughts into action. If there is any way you can help by sending some of the needed items Please do so.

Two Females I Won't Call Ladies

Yesterday I almost commented on something that was in the NewsMax (www.newsmax.com) Left Coast Report. Then I decided that two of the people mentioned in the article weren't worth commenting on. Today I got something in the e-mail that made me change my mind. I might make some comments in italics.

In the Left Coast Report, Rosie O'Donnell Defends Fonda, condemns Bush.

Rosie O'Donnell apparently wants to give a little gas to one of her many careers. O'Donnell has been a standup comic, TV talk show host, magazine publisher and Broadway star, but now she's acting in movies again. You may have seen Rosie recently in the made-for TV film "Riding the Bus with My Sister." In it, she portrays a developmentally challenged woman. No I can't bring myself to watch someone that has attacked the Second Amendment to our Constitution and promoted gay and lesbian life styles as often as Rosie has. While on a promo tour for the flick, O'Donnell took time out to come to the defense of Jane Fonda and her traitorous Vietnam conduct. Rosie related a tale to Fox News Channels Geraldo Rivera about how when she "was a kid and the Vietnam War was on," Fonda was "the only person standing up and saying what every kid that was 9 years old like I was knew-war was wrong and we shouldn't go over and kill people." No Rosie many stood up and opposed the war, they just didn't make a trip to Vietnam to put American lives in danger. It made me wonder whether the sight of Rosie making an appearance on the supposedly arch-conservative Fox News Channel, shooting the breeze with Geraldo and heaping praise on Honoi Jane had liberals reaching for their smelling salts. O'Donnell continued opining militarily, saying, "You know (President Bush) invaded a sovereign nation (Iraq) in defiance of the U.N. He is basically a war criminal! He should be tried in the Hague!" Jane should have been tried for giving aid and comfort to the enemy. She disclosed that her publicist recommended she "stop talking about politics." That was good advice Rosie. Rosie is now expressing herself through her blog. If anyone knows how to find her site please let me know. I wonder if it has a comment section? In fact she writes that she recently turned down an invitation from the " Late Show with David Letterman" because executive producer Rob Burnett had accused her of trying to steal Letterman's job. The Left Coast Report can't say it better than Burnett's counter, "The last thing I want to do is get into a fight with a powerful celebrity who has a blog read by tens of people."

Today I received an e-mail from an old friend, that is why I changed my mind and mentioned the Left Coast Report on Rosie. The Subject line of today's e-mail read, Fw: A Traitor About To Be Honored.

A very wise man once told me, the greatest forgivness is to forgive one who does not deserve to be forgiven.... True but very difficult to do.

TRAITOR IS ABOUT TO BE HONORED
She really was a traitor.

A TRAITOR IS ABOUT TO BE HONORED KEEP THIS MOVING ACROSS AMERICA

This is for all the kids born in the 70's who do not remember, and didn't have to bear the burden that our fathers, mothers and older brothers and sisters had to bear. Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the "100 Women of the Century." Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still countless others have never known how Ms. Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country, but specific men who served and sacrificed during Vietnam. I remember these times well. I remember a day in my high school lunch room. Three friends of mine were called to the office to be told that there older brother had been killed in Vietnam. Today I wear a POW/MIA bracelet that bears the name GYSGT Galen F. Humphrey his plane went down over water in North Vietnam on 2/1/66. I have met his wife and three of his children. Should these people be expected to forgive Jane Fonda for her actions in Vietnam. The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot. The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat. In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAF Survival School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison the "Hanoi Hilton." Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell, cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ's he was ordered to describe for a visiting America "Peace Activist" the "lenient and humane treatment" he'd received. He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and was dragged away. During the subsequent beating, he fell forward on to the camp Commandant's feet, which sent that officer berserk. In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from double vision (which permanently ended his flying career) from the Commandant's frenzied application of a wooden baton. From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the 47FW/DO (F-4E's). He spent 6 years in the "Hanoi Hilton",,, the first three of which his family only knew he was "missing in action". His wife lived on faith that he was still alive. His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and clothed routine in preparation for a "peace delegation" visit. They, however, had time and devised a plan to get word to the world that they were alive and still survived. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his Social Security Number on it, in the palm of his hand. When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like: "Aren't you sorry you bombed babies?" and "Are you grateful for the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?" Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper. She took them all without missing a beat. At the end of the line and once the camera stopped rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POW's she turned to the officer in charge and handed him all the little pieces of paper. Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Colonel Carrigan was almost number four but he survived, which is the only reason we know of her actions that day. If I was Carrigan I don't feel I would ever be able to forgive or forget what she did and I don't feel we should expect him to. I was a civilian economic development advisor in Vietnam, and was captured by the North Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in 1968, and held prisoner for over 5 years. I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one year in a cage in Cambodia; and one year in a "black box" in Hanoi. My North Vietnamese captors deliberately poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a nurse in a leprosarium in Ban me Thuot, South Vietnam, whom I buried in the jungle near the Cambodian border. At one time, I weighed only about 90 lbs. (My normal weight is 170 lbs.) We were Jane Fonda's "war criminals." When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi, I was asked by the camp communist political officer if I would be willing to meet with her. I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real treatment we POWs received... and how different it was from treatment purported by the North Vietnamese, and parroted by her as "humane and lenient." Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky floor on my knees, with my arms outstretched with large steel weights placed on my hands, and beaten with a bamboo cane. I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda soon after I was released. I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV. She never did answer me. These first-handed experiences do not exemplify someone who should be honored as part of "100 Years of Great Women." Least we forget... "100 Years of Great Women should never include a traitor whose hands are covered with the blood of so many patriots. There are few things I have strong visceral reactions to, but Hanoi Jane's participation in blatant treason, is one of them. Please take the time to forward to as many people as you possibly can. It will eventually end up on her computer and she needs to know that we will never forget. Ronald D. Sampson, CMSgt, USAF 716 Maintance Squadron, Chief of Maintance DSN: 875-6431 COMM:883-6343.

I know some of you have seen at least parts of that in the past, but people younger than you need to know about Jane's past. I hope you will tell them about her actions so they will know she is not the kind of person they should look up to. If Jane wants a chance to explain her actions to some Vietnam veterans she could always show up for Skidmore, Missouri's Freedom Fest. Maybe Rosie would like to go along with her so she can explain why she feels honest law abiding citizens should be disarmed. Check out my May 3, 2005 post, Planning A September Vacation.

Congressional Immigration Report Cards

From what I've read I'd say a lot of you are in favor of immigration reform and secure borders. I just found something I thought was interesting. a site that shows how some of our elected officials have voted on immigration issues in the past. A congressional immigration report card. Go to http://grades.betterimmigration.com/ and click on your state to view your elected officials report card. I live in Missouri, mine didn't do to well. Senator Kit Bond (Rep) got a C for career votes and a C for recent votes. Senator Jim Talent (Rep) did better, he got an A for career votes and a C for recent votes. My Representative, Sam Graves (Rep) did better than my two Senators, he got a B+ for career votes and a B for recent votes. Remember it was Representative Graves that was calling for a moratorium on immigration, check out my April 29, 2005 post, " Immigration Time Out"

I thought some of the rest of you might want to check out their elected officials grades on this issue.

Planning A September Vacation?

I know September is to far away to be thinking about now but I want to tell you about something my family and I do every September. We go to Skidmore, Missouri's Freedom Fest. It is held on the weekend after Labor Day, this year that will be the 9th, 10th and 11th. Skidmore's Freedom Fest is held to honor Veterans of all wars. I know a lot of you opposed our(oil) war's with Iraq and a lot of people were opposed to our war with Vietnam. No matter how you feel about the war I feel you should show respect to the men and women that choose to serve their country. Skidmore gives you a chance to meet a large number of veterans and show them that you do care about them. If your looking for something to do this September check out, http://www.skidmorefreedomfest.com/ The link tells about this years speaker list and some of the other events and entertainment. I always look forward to hearing Col. Earl Hopper and his wife Patty speak. Col. Hopper is a three war veteran, his son was shot down over Vietnam and is still missing. Our 13 year old Grand Daughter wears a POW/MIA bracelet with Earl Hopper Jr.'s name on it. She has been wearing it since she was 8 years old, she is very close to the Hopper family. If you do decide to attend I'm sure it will be something you will never forget.

Thank You

I want to thank each of you that took the time to answer the question I posted yesterday. All of the answers were very interesting. I'm glad to see that a candidates position on important issues has more of an effect on the way you vote than what church the candidate is a member of does. I feel I would vote for a candidate of any religion if his or her past proved to me that they would uphold, protect and defend the Constitution of The United States. I'm sure I would have some problems with the idea of voting for an atheist or Satan Worshiper.

Yesterdays post and the great results gave me an idea. Every Sunday I'm going to start posting a Question Of The Week. I hope all of you will come back to see what it is and answer it for me. I think this could get interesting.

So in closing I want to thank all of you one more time, and as always. God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

Would You Vote For A Member Of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints For President?

Before I got ready to go to work Saturday my wife ask me why a member of our church, The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) had never ran for the office of President of the United States. I really had no answer to give her, but her question made me think of a question for you. I couldn't post my question at that time because of some technical problems on my site. Just suppose the 2008 presidential campaign is in full swing. Your checking out all the possible candidates to decide who you will vote for. You find that one of the candidates is every bit as qualified as the others, but this candidate is a member of the LDS Church. Would this have any effect on your decision? If it will help you to answer the question you can read about the church at, www.lds.org .

As far as I know there is not a member of the church planning on running for president. I'm just asking to satisfy my own curiosity.
