From Our Good Friends At China-Mart

First I want you all to know I had computer problems again Saturday. That's why there was no Question Of The Week this past Sunday. If all goes well there will be one this coming Sunday morning. I didn't even get to watch the last of The Constitution Party's Nominating Convention on the Internet and it sure wasn't covered by the local news. So until late last night (when I got the computer back) I didn't know that Dr. Chuck Baldwin will be the Constitution Party's Presidential candidate for 2008. Darrell Castle will be the party's Vice Presidential candidate. Chuck Baldwin was the party's Vice Presidential candidate in 2004 so I know something about him, I'll have to do some home work on Mr. Castle.

So, what does all of the above have to do with the title to this post, "From Our Good Friends At China-Mart"? Nothing, I just wanted to give you an update, but. I found something in my local paper that I thought was interesting. "You generally don’t hear topics like government economic policy and tax law pop up in everyday conversation. But two little words have changed that this spring: stimulus checks." (Continue Reading ) I don't know if they will be doing this at Wal(China)-Mart stores nation wide or if it's just a Saint Joseph, Missouri thing. I don't shop Wal-Mart, in fact I promised them I'd never be back the last time I was in one of the two stores they have here. I don't know for sure what it is that bothers me more about China-Mart, the fact that they don't want anything on their shelves that was made in the United States or the attitude of the people (From management on down) that work at our local shops. I know I'll keep that promise. Maybe I'll take my stimulus check over to my computer repairman and put that money back into our local economy. I just wish there was some way he could build me a new computer made of parts that were manufactured in the United States.

Why I Won't Vote For Obama

I had said I would comment on why I wouldn't vote for some of the main stream presidential candidates ( here and here). I don't want to leave Obama out. I've heard that he claims to be a supporter of the Second Amendment, with some common sense regulations. I don't know about you but I feel that the gun grabbers have just about regulated the Second Amendment and the firearms industry to death already. I've been unable to find anything in Obamas voting record that shows any support for the Second Amendment or firearms manufacturers if I missed something please let me know.

Obama has voted in favor of a guest worker program, amnesty for illegal aliens. I live in a part of Saint Joseph, Missouri known as "South St. Joe.". This part of town is known for being made up of old blue collar (legal) immigrant families. A few years ago we got a new pork processing plant in this part of town. It came with the promise of more (new) jobs. It brought in the jobs alright and they were filled by new comers to Saint Joseph, most of them speak little or no English. They have quite the employment turn over rate. They have to replace workers every time there is a rumor of an ICE raid. We don't want or need amnesty for illegals. We want and need our borders secured and our broken immigration policy fixed.

You know I could say just about everything I said about Obama about Hillary and John too. There's not a nickles worth of difference between the three of them. I do agree with Obama on one thing. It's time for some change. It's time that we put someone in the White House that doesn't have Republican or Democrat after their name.

Question Of The Week, 4/20/08

Good morning.I wondered if I would make it this morning. I was off work yesterday because of a migraine. Now I've laid in bed so long my back hurts. I figure I'll get this done and go back to bed then I'll be ready form work this afternoon.

I've heard that some young voters are saying that they would not vote for a third party candidate because they are just spoilers. They are just in the race to take votes away from the Democratic or Republican candidates. They don't stand a chance of winning because they don't have the Republican or Democratic Parties backing them.

This weeks Question Of The Week is. Are all third party candidates just spoilers wanting to take votes away from a major party candidate or do they feel that they are capable of holding the office they are running for?

I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

Updated, Where Will Alan Keyes Go From Here?

I posted the following message on Wednesday, April 16, 2008.

I missed the speech so I can't say what Mr. Keyes plans are now that he has left the Republican Party. I do know that the Constitution Party will hold it's Nomination Convention in Kansas City, Missouri the 23rd-26th of this month. I would not be a bit surprised if Mr. Alan Keyes gets the Constitution Party nomination.

When I got home from work this morning I found a link to that speech in my e-mail. I watched it then and again later with my Wife. I'm listening to it again right now. I've heard seen and read Mr. Keyes speeches in the past, I got to attend an event that he spoke at once a few years ago. I feel this has got to be one of the best. He could have titled it What Ever Happened To Our Republic. You might find the answer to the question ask in the title of this post. (Watch The Speech)

What Ever Happened To John Bolton?

I haven't heard much about John Bolton since he was our United Nations (U.N.) Ambassador. Since I'm not much of a U.N. fan I liked having John in there, he seemed to be a kind of a pain in the U.N.'s a$$. I was checking out some sites earlier today and decided to stop by the Hillsdale College site to see what was in their most recent news letter since mine hasn't came in the snail mail yet. I found out that John Bolton made a speech at a Hillsdale College National Leadership Seminar in Phoenix, Arizona, on February 11, 2008. I wasn't surprised by the subject of that speech. I wonder how the U.N. conference on small arms would have turned out if John hadn't been there? "The U.S. delegation made it clear that while we were concerned about the illicit flow of weapons into conflict areas, we were not going to sign on to any international agreement that prohibited private ownership of guns. I explained that we had a Constitution that precluded any such restrictions. This was treated as an entirely specious notion." (Continue reading) I'm sure we'll get a chance to find out, it is sure to come up again. Our tax dollars fund this un-American organization. Urge your elected officials to get the United States out of the United Nations and the United Nations off United States soil.

Why I Won't Vote For Hillary Clinton

On April 3rd I said, "I could give you a (my) reason for not voting for any of the main stream candidates and I probably will later." Hillary has recently said she has always felt that NAFTA was flawed and I agree with her on that. I think all of the free trade deals are flawed, the only thing that makes one free trade deal any different from another is the name of the deal and the countries involved. On the other hand, in her 2003 memoir, Living History, Clinton wrote, "Creating a free trade zone in North America — the largest free trade zone in the world — would expand U.S. exports, create jobs and ensure that our economy was reaping the benefits, not the burdens, of globalization. Although unpopular with labor unions, expanding trade opportunities was an important administration goal." Maybe it's just me but some how that just doesn't sound like something that someone that felt NAFTA or any other free trade deal was flawed would say. I can not bring myself to support any candidate that supports or flip flops on free trade. Just one of my reasons for not voting for Hillary Clinton.

In closing I'll repeat, "I could give you a (my) reason for not voting for any of the main stream candidates and I probably will later."

Question Of The Week, 4/13/08

Good morning. Hey it's April 13th have you filed yet? No, I'm not with the I.R.S. and I'm not here to help you but I'm sure taxes are on quite a few folks minds this morning. So that will be the subject of this weeks (two part) Question Of The Week. (1) Would you like to see the Federal Income Tax (FIT) done away with? (2) How would you suggest we keep the Federal Government afloat/solvent without a FIT?

I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

Attention Young Folks

I got an interesting e-mail from Gun Owners Of America (GOA) today. They are trying to find some 11 to 15 year olds that are pro firearm/Second Amendment and interested in going on Nick News to share their views with others. I don't have any family members in that age group. I have a feeling that the folks at Nickelodeon are hoping no one will be interested so they can turn this into an anti gun broadcast. It would be great if we could turn the table on them. If you know a young person that might be interested have them check out this GOA message.

"NICK NEWS WANTS YOUR KID

Nickelodeon has contacted Gun Owners of America and offered us a wonderful
opportunity to get out the pro-gun message to young people.

They want some teenagers (between 11-15 years of age) to appear on the May
13 taping of Nick News which will run later that month. Specifically, they
would like to interview kids from all over the nation:

1. Who can talk about the right to keep and bear arms, or
2. Who have seen an example of armed self-defense in their home.

They need about ten kids. In some cases, Nickelodeon will fly a team out to
your home to film your kids taking target practice, answering questions,
etc. In some cases, they will fly your child (along with one parent) for an
all-expenses paid trip to New York on May 12, for the taping which will
occur the following day.

No doubt, they will probably have kids who tout the anti-gun position. But
if you think you have a well-spoken teen who can handle this challenge,
please contact Gun Owners of America at goamail@gunowners.org or at
703-321-8585."

An American Life Turned Nightmare

I just read about a Saint Joseph, Missouri resident that went to Vancouver, British Columbia to attend his Father's funeral."Now, Mr. Pamir finds himself stuck in this picturesque Canadian seaport, a prisoner of long-ago missteps. Or maybe a clerical error. Or maybe just bad luck in an age of yellow threat-level suspicions." (Continue reading)

I can not imagine what it would be like to be in Mr. Pamir's situation. I find myself thinking he believed he was a legal citizen or he never would have crossed the border to get to the funeral. He first came to the United States as a child under his parents control, if they entered the country illegally it was not his doing. He claims he tried to get things straightened out years ago and thought he did. If there is a problem with his citizenship I would think both the United States and Canadian governments would help him get this mess straightened out so he could get back to life as he once knew it.

I Can't Afford It

I subscribe to a news letter from Sam Graves (Rep. Mo.), my United States Representative. I don't always agree with Sam but I do this time. I don't know about you but it has got to the point that go back and forth to work is about all I can afford to do if it means use gas. A three hundred percent increase of the federal gas tax could cause me to start walking to work, or think about it anyway. I hope you'll contact your elected officials and urge them to oppose Congressman Dingell’s proposal. I don't think anyone around home or my co-workers will be able to put up with me if I have to walk back and forth.

Question Of The Week, 4/6/08

Good morning. Yes I'm late again. I got home from work last night (usually that's when I start working on the Question Of The Week) and started checking my e-mail. I came across a link to an article that told Charlton Heston had passed away. I spent the rest of the night wondering what happened to Hollywood. Rest In Peace Mr.Heston I forgot about the Question Of The Week until now.

A couple of day's ago I read an article that told about a 55 year old Vietnam veteran reenlisting. This weeks Question Of The Week is (Two parts). Now that this has came out will we see more older veterans trying to reenlist? Would more older veterans reenlisting be a good thing for our military?

I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

Why I Won't Vote For John McCain

I could give you a (my) reason for not voting for any of the main stream candidates and I probably will later. For right now it's a Washington Post article (Lt. McCain Reports for Duty, By Howard Kurtz) that drew my attention to McCain. The article makes me think John is going to try and use his time in the military and as a POW to buy votes. I admire anyone that chooses to serve in the military, especially when we are at war. I think that it would take quite a person to survive five years as a POW. Still I don't see how that would make you a good president. I guess the main stream media could make it sound like it should, but I do not read main stream only. One of the off the beaten path sites that I visit has been questioning John McCain's time served as a POW for several years now. Is what they are saying true? I would think McCain would have filed a suit by now if it's not. So if your thinking about casting a vote for John check out The U.S. Veteran Dispatch and find out "Why I Won't Vote For John McCain".
