Question Of The Week, 4/13/08

Good morning. Hey it's April 13th have you filed yet? No, I'm not with the I.R.S. and I'm not here to help you but I'm sure taxes are on quite a few folks minds this morning. So that will be the subject of this weeks (two part) Question Of The Week. (1) Would you like to see the Federal Income Tax (FIT) done away with? (2) How would you suggest we keep the Federal Government afloat/solvent without a FIT?

I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

Of course. Our nation was able to budget without FIT until 1913 (I hope that I'm correct with that date).

Besides, IRS creates another bureaucracy, one which is funded at quite an expense to us taxpayers.

Also, the more opportunity offered for the government to spend, the more opportunist the government will be with regard to fiscal irresponsibility.

National sales tax?

First I want to thank you for stopping by to answer this weeks question, "(1) Would you like to see the Federal Income Tax (FIT) done away with? (2) How would you suggest we keep the Federal Government afloat/solvent without a FIT?
(1)Yes! I think it would be great to bring home every cent that I worked for at the end of the week.

(2)If I'm not mistaken tariffs kept the Federal Government afloat/solvent before the 16th Amendment was ratified (Article. XVI.
[Proposed 1909; Questionably Ratified 1913]
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.) That would still work today, maybe better than before since so many of the products we use today are imported. If tariffs don't bring in enough I would suggest/support a National Sales Tax (www.fairtax.org).

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.
