A Little Out Of Control Spending?

If you had a neighbor that was a retired mechanic, and a very good one from everything you'd heard would you let him work on your broken down car for free? All you'd have to do is pay for the parts. Or would you insist on taking it to the shop and paying top dollar? That is not the Question Of The Week. I think most of us would let our neighbor help us out. An e-mail I got from Downsize DC.org told of a recent post at Reason Magazines' Hit & Run blog site that shows us that is not how our government works. "Retired Glenwood Springs car dealer John Haines' hope of donating a giant chunk of snow -white marble to the federal government to replace the cracked Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery is stalled again." (Continue Reading). That should give us some idea as to why the national debt is currently $9,686,528,669,622.59 (As of 11:53 PM on 9/13/08). I've contacted my United States Representative (Sam Graves R-MO) and ask him to look into the matter or to explain why Thurman Higginbotham, deputy superintendent of Arlington won't except John Haines' donation. I figured there couldn't be a better time to contact Sam about this since he is up for re-election in November.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.
