Question Of The Week, 4/16/06

Good morning and Happy Easter. I thought about going with the last thing I posted yesterday and asking a question about taxes for a Question Of The week and changed my mind. We have another day coming up this week that I feel should be a Holiday but most people feel it is just another day. So this weeks Question Of The Week is, Do you know what day I'm talking about and what should make it special? I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

My friend, you MUST be referring to President Lincoln's abolition of slavery?

And no, we should not make it a "special day", because those without deep pockets are very much still in the stranglehold of slavery. We must first win the battle against slavery and indentured servitude for our Government before we can rejoice in freedom and liberty. To do so now would be quite premature...

April 16th, 1862 was a great day, but who would have known the Government would only extinguish the pinpointing of the black man and woman and shift the burden to other groups based strictly upon earning power? It would be a great day, worthy of celebration except for the fact that our black brothers and sisters are still overrepresented in our prisons and low paying jobs.

In other words, not much has changed.

Blog ON, bro...

Well Jefferson sold his slaves to Madison in April. Oklahoma bombing, Waco, first blood shed in Civil War, Earth Day, radium discovered, Bay Of Pigs, AIDS is discovered, Chernobyl, 92 Los Angeles riots (Rodney King)..I don't suppose any of these should be made into holidays.

I want to thank you for stopping by, to answer this weeks question. Until I saw some of the answers I didn't know or remember what a busy month April is. I could use that for an excuse if I forget my wifes Birthday on April 21, but thats not the answer. April 19, 1775 the shot heard around the world began our Revolution. The day is celibrated in some parts of the country.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

I think it should be a holiday. Let us celebrate the moment when we took responsibility for our government into our own hands.

Hmm. I like that idea! Though, perhaps we should wait until we re-claim our government from the political elite.

World War II: Allied forces start bombing Belgrade, killing about 1,100 people. This bombing fell on the Orthodox Christian Easter.
