Question Of The Week, 6/5/05

It's been a busy week and I hadn't thought of a Question Of The Week of my own. I got the idea for this week's question from my local news paper, the St. Joseph News-Press, www.stjoelive.com . Do you think U.S. troops will be out of Iraq by the time President Bush leaves office? I know my answer, I'll post it some time Monday in the Comments Section.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

As far as leaving, I believe we are there for good. I think it’s probably more of a matter of how many troops we will have there and if they will still be in combat. My hope is that Cheney is right and we are seeing the death throws of the insurgency. I seriously doubt it, but I can hope.

I'm not sure what they mean by "out of Iraq" but my answer is no. Surely we're going to have to leave some troops there, because if not, it will become civil war. They may not be under the name US (instead, maybe UN peacekeepers) but they'll have to be there. I just hope we can make it less quagmire-like.

I think a minimum level is there for good.

I've got a petition for you to sign when you get a chance.

Leave Iraq? The troops will still be there when Hillary leaves office in 2017.

Of course, they reason they will still be there is because the Treasury is broke and there's no money to bring them home.

I'm beginning to have doubts that the USA will still exist in 2017, at least in it's present form. Our empire is sure to break up and collapse in the same way and for the same reasons that the Soviet empire crumbled.

Who's to be our Yeltsin? There's a question to ponder.

I'm thinking we will have troops in Iraq for at least another 20 to 30 years. When (if) we do leave life in Iraq will be no different than it was before United States troops arrived. The only thing that will change will be the leaders names.

Not really. They make sure that peace is occurred. The withdrawal of U.S. military forces from Iraq began in December 2007 with the end of the Iraq War troop surge of 2007 and was completed by December 2011. Please see http://assistedlivinglittlerockarkansas.com
