Keep Your Children Home Tuesday, September 8, 2009

I'm glad we don't have any school age children. If we did I'd have to keep them home from school next Tuesday, September 8, 2009 to prevent them from being sucked into the Obama Youth Movement. I'm thinking this was tried in Germany years ago, we all know how that turned out. I was not surprised to learn that some felt it was wrong for George H. W. Bush (Who I opposed on most issues) to address school children in 1991 but now they feel it is great that Obama (Who I've opposed on all issues) wants to. I think I'm smelling a little bit of a double standard here.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

Personally I think folks need to send their kids to school with a note stating they forbid their children from seeing it..

think about that, the school will have to shuffle resources to gather all such children away from the presentation, a few teachers will then be forced to miss it..

makes a much bigger statement that way.

I believe your on to something. Unless he is stopped somehow the September 8 broadcast will be the first of many more to come. Each one will be a little worse than the last.

I have three kids in school, and wrote about this on my blog. Misfits's idea is a good one, and one we may try.

Slapinions,

I'm liking Misfits's idea more and more. I've read that many plan on doing this. I hope that parents showing disapproval puts an end to the Obamacasts. Otherwise I'm afraid September 8 will only be the first of many more yet to come. Each one will be worse than the last.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

I'm thinking hysteria mongers worry over something like this.

Color me blonde, but I guess that I don't get the whole to-do about this. It's silly. I think that people are just TRYING to find reasons to don the tin-foil hat. If a conservative president wanted to give a speech to school children about trying hard in school? Fabulous! I think it's great that somebody with the influence that he does will take the time to encourage our children to stay in school and succeed. Other presidents visited schools and gave speeches IN PERSON. Where was the outcry?

For those parents who do object....all I have to say is, how insecure are you in your parenting that you feel that this speech by Obama will suddenly derail all of your teaching to your child? I know Obama is a dynamic speaker.....but come on now!

And, here is the scary speech right here...

http://www.whitehouse.gov/MediaResources/PreparedSchoolRemarks/

Now that I've read it, I suddenly have the urge to decorate my child's room with a giant Lenin poster, and then order a Kim Jong customized toilet. Maybe I'll even grow a beard just like Castro, and name my next child Marx. How about you?

All joking aside, how would you feel if the Jonas Brothers or Hannah Montana gave the same speech?

I'm waiting for Graham Chapman to walk out and tell everybody that they are being much too silly. That has to be the only sensible answer here.

djWhite,

"hysteria mongers", I like that. In the past I have been a hate monger and a racist, despite the fact that I removed the leader of our local Klan from an open to the public meeting put on by an organization I once belonged to. The organizations by-laws said they would not tolerate racism or bigotry. I removed him from three of our meetings over the KKK pin on his hat. Leaders of the organization told me I couldn't do that twice, they said I'd cause a lawsuit. The organization is now defunct, I'm still here and the skin just keeps getting thicker.

Aimee,

The Obama speech might sound good to some, I wonder who wrote it? Obama's original intent was not to promote staying in school, it was to promote a socialist agenda. The stay in school speech was written after some concerned parents protested. I don't care which branch of the Democrat/Republican party the current president is associated with, our public schools are not a place for them to promote their agenda. Public schools should be a place of education not indoctrination.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

Seriously, where is the evidence that the original speech was one to "promote a socialist agenda?" I've only heard that from alarmist sources that didn't know anything other than Obama was making a speech aimed at the youth of the nation. When Bush was visiting school children, was he promoting a fascist agenda? No, he was visiting children and encouraging them to learn, do well in school, and succeed. Here is the original release...

Where is the socialist agenda? I've read it a few times and I can't find it. If the "socialist agenda" is to succeed in school and be successful, call me a Pinko Commie, cuz I'm all about it!

We have so many things wrong in this country, and THIS has caused one of the biggest outcries that I remember seeing?? I'm reading comparisons of Obama to Hitler and child molesters all over the web. It's disgusting and ridiculous.

While I respect your right to disagree, I think you're wrong. What is so wrong with the President wanting to speak to the school children of America for a few minutes? Did he try and give a political speech to brainwash these kids? Absolutely not. Ronald Reagan AND George HW Bush did it, and I have no problem with that.
