Message From Down Size D.C. .org

I got a news letter from Down Size D.C. .org (http://www.downsizedc.org , today telling about the progress they have made on one of their projects. In case you have never heard of them, they are a grassroots organization that is trying to do just what their name says, down size D.C., meaning the federal government. They have been working on a piece of legislation that they hope and pray will be passed by both the United States House and Senate. If passed the legislation will force our elected officials in D.C. to read every piece of legislation that comes before them before voting on it. This is something that I'm sure some of you know is not being done at this time. In the past, when talking about problems that come up I have heard legislators say they would not have voted for a bill that would permit something like that to happen. If you check back on how congress voted you will find that not only did they vote for it but they promoted it whole heartedly. Later they will say well the bill was just to big, I didn't have the time to read the whole thing. If passed the "Read the Bills Act of 2005" will prevent that from happening in the future.

If you would like to read more about the "Read the Bills Act of 2005" go to, http://www.downsizedc.org/read_the_laws.shtml . While you are there be sure to click on, Draft Legislation to see the first draft of the bill. I feel this legislation is long over due.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.
