Kofi Annan Cleared

I just read two articles about United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan being cleared of any wrong doing on his part in oil for food scandal. There were some who were urging him to step down (resign) others were talking about forcing him out. I was concerned about who would take his place if he did step down. Through out all of this Annan remained defiant, when ask if he would resign he said, "Hell, no."

Annan had nothing to worry about during the independent inquiry, he initiated it. That means he would have played a major role in the selection of the inquiry committee. If you were arrested for a crime wouldn't it be great if you could pick the prosecutor that would oppose you, the jury that would find you guilty or not guilty, and the judge that would sentence you if you were found guilty. That would prove the old saying crime doesn't pay to be wrong.

One of the articles said that China called on all of the United Nations member states urging them to support Annan. At first I thought this only makes sense for a Communist country to support the leader of a communistic organization. Then I started thinking, if Annan did step down the next Secretary General could possibly be from China. China is already a growing super power, just think of what they could do if they controlled the Secretary General of the United Nations.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.
