I'm Still Alive

It's been over two months since I posted a message. That doesn't mean I've lost interest in whats going on around us. My feelings about what is being done to our country are as strong as ever, maybe stronger. My absence from blogging wasn't the result of my finding full time employment that kept me away from the computer. I do have a part time job now though, so I'm no longer completely unemployed. I've been neglecting this site because I've been busy right here at home.

My Wife, Sue has had a number of health problems for several years. About four months ago we started to notice she was having memory problems. We were quite concerned because her Mother has Alzheimer’s disease. Her Grandmother passed away as a result of Alzheimer’s, and the family has reason to believe her Great Grandmother was also a victim of Alzheimer’s but in her case it went undiagnosed. When Sue went in for testing they first told her she had Dementia. Now they tell us she has and are treating her for the first stage of Alzheimer’s disease. So to help her (us) out I've taken on a few more of the household duties/chores.

What's next? I plan to start posting messages here regularly again. With Sues' help/partnership we're starting a new site. Alzheimer’s In The House will be a place for us to tell others what we're doing to deal with the problem of living with Alzheimer’s. We hope others will share their stories/solutions to problems with all of us. We'll also share news about new treatments or possible cures, Hope. If you know of anyone that is dealing with Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease tell them to stop in and see us.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

I am so sorry to hear about your wife's diagnosis. We keep hearing in the news about new clinical trials and medications researchers are working on, so I hope there is something which will slow the progressive of this disease for her.

DJ,

There is also some hope for more research funding. I posted a message about that at Alzheimer’s In The House. There is a link to that site in the side bar of this one,http://alzheimersinthehouse.blogspot.com/ She is taking Exelon and Numonda at the time. It seems to help, you can tell if she forgets to take it. Thank you for your kind thoughts.

I too was sorry to read about your wife’s diagnosis. Alzheimer’s is making news in Australia as the CEO of Alzheimer's Australia has predicted a literal epidemic by 2030 unless better medical interventions are found to delay the onset of it. Dementia & Alzheimer's affects people in different ways and each person and family will find their own approach to managing the changes it brings. It is my belief that services and support as well as treatments available are second to none in the U.S. To this end, I hope I am right for your sake.

We have fought our own battle with it, as my father-in-law received the same diagnosis in 2001.

We pray that you handle the challenges that it brings and in the meantime never lose hope. If I come across any information regards latest treatments and medications I shall not hesitate to pass on.

God bless

Very sorry to read about your wife and the diagnosis. Put your trust and faith in God and don't hesitate to listen and investigate sincere advise from others. Our family has dealt with this and always found honest sound advise from doctors and the comfort from prayer help in dealing with this disease.

Otto and Edisto Joe,

I want to thank you for your thoughts. You have reminded me of the importance of prayer. Prayer is what has got us through Sue's many health problems, a hearth attach, Chrones Disease, a missing kidney and Osteoporosis. If not for God and prayer we are sure she wouldn't be with me today. God will also get us through Alzheimer's disease.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.
