Question Of The Week, 3/26/06

Good morning. I got the idea for this weeks question from a Mark Silva/Chicago Tribune article I found at the Lincoln Journal Star. This weeks Question Of The Week is. Would you support or would you be opposed to legislation that would make felons of all illegal aliens caught in the United States (and why)? By the way, the Lincoln Journal Star is asking the same question. You might want to stop by their site to Sound Off. I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

I support this legislation. Misdemeanor arrests generally result in an easy release before the court date, but felony arrests receive more scrutiny. However, considering the hordes who might well be arrested if this measure passes, I suspect that our jails will be overwhelmed.

Personally, I'm for arrest and immediate deportation: no visa, out you go, ASAP. Releasing illegals prior to trial very often results in their flight--happens all the time here in Northern Virginia.

Last night, I heard an immigrant advocated say that we shouldn't be using the term "aliens." Apparently, the word offends them. Frankly, I don't care if I am offending ILLEGALS.

Side note...Just think of the nightmare if you get rear-ended by an illegal alien without insurance. Such events happen all the time in our border states and are starting to happen here in Northern Virginia as well. Have a look at this one.

I would support legislation that would make felons of all illegal aliens caught in the United States if and only if other measures of change were also taken. The illegal aliens themselves are NOT the only ones who are committing crimes and are not the only ones who deserve stricter, more fully enforced legislation. Their employers are also at fault, as are those who aid and abet them. IMO, legislation that only targets illegal aliens is half-ass, intentionally ineffective, and unfair. That being said, being in the United States illegally is a crime, a serious crime, and should be treated as such.

Criminal activity hurts this nation and their presence and participation in our society is inherently criminal activity. If they want to be here, then come here legally. That's fine. Come here illegally, and, imo, they should be hunted down, prosecuted very quickly and deported.

I would not support that legislation, however; I would support the incarceration of businessmen and women who keep them incented to come in illegally after one very STERN warning. I do like some of the other proposed legislation, however... or at least PARTS of all of them. I think we're finally getting somewhere though, and that is a great thing for America.

First I want to thank everyone for stopping by to answer this weeks question. No! I would not support legislation that would make all illegal aliens felons. Doing this would take up to much of the courts time and cause us to build even more prisons. All paid for with our tax dollars.I would support legislation that would have them deported as soon as they are caught. I would support legislation that would make hiring them a felony, but I wouldn't stop there. Giving them any kind of aid should be a felony. Selling or renting a house or an apartment to a known illegal alien would make you a felon. Selling them a car would be a felony. When an illegal alien shows up at the hospital emergency room authorities should be contacted so they can be deported as soon as their condition is stabilized or the doctor that treated them becomes a felon. I'm thinking that if we did this word would soon get back to Mexico (or where ever) that there is no good life for illegal aliens in the United States.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

I could live with that plan.

The Trump administration has significantly hardened the country’s policies regarding illegal immigration.
