Rumsfeld expects Iraq to get worse

Defense Secretary Rumsfeld is saying the violence in Iraq "could go on for any number of years", http://www.deseretnews.com/dn/view/1,1249,600144430,00.html I felt that this was going to last longer and cost more in lives and tax dollars than the war in Vietnam did when we first invaded Iraq.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

Let's just give up and abandon the Iraqis to the terrorists.

Let's give Muslim fundamentalists the greatest victory they've ever had, and lets hope they won't want to hurt us...

I'm all about responsible withdrawl. Many Middle Eastern experts, as well as Iraq politicians themselves, have said that setting a date--or some kind of timetable--would help defeat the actual Iraqi insurgency. It would help end the violence among the domestic Iraqis who simply want to be on their own.

But before we do that, we have to get some kind of international team to secure the border between Iraq and Syria. If we can do that, we stifle the al Qaeda terrorists and other foreign insurgents who shouldn't even have been in there had we actually had a strategy when we invaded (which, still, we shouldn't have done in the first place).
