Question Of The Week, 8/21/05

Good morning. This weeks question has to do with something that is a hot spot/topic/issue with me. Today is the thirteenth anniversary of a tragic event that took place in our country, so this weeks Question Of The Week will be a little history test. What action taken by United States Federal agents on August 21, 1992 caused some United States citizens to wonder how safe and free they really were? I'll post my answer in the comment section Monday.

Ruby Ridge.

The FBI terrorized a family for their beliefs using some gun laws to justify what they did. In the end a lot of people died and less than a year latter Janet Reno was at it again but this time the results were much worse in Waco Texas.

Hey, I got this one before looking! I'm proud of myself because I am not a "date person."

I admit, though, that my first thought was Waco.

At Ruby Ridge, was a woman shot while holding a baby? I may be wrong about that.

David,
BTW, that was some storm at my blog when I announced The Truth Project! You have to read Toni's comments to believe them.

ALways on watch

Yes a woman was shot while holding a baby.

There is a movie about the event but I don't remember the name of it.

I thought the date was Ruby Ridge, but I checked just to make sure and found a report

Young as I was, 13 years ago, I didn't wonder. I was sure that we weren't safe nor free. Luckily, they didn't come for me, and my paranoia has since subsided. The events remain disturbing, and I hope future apprehensions are more professional.

It was the date that Janet Reno begun her reign of terror upon free Citizens who valued the 2nd Amendment. As Jake pointed out, she was just honing her mass murder skills for Waco where she was able to murder many more men, women, and children who had differing beliefs and values than she.

Tragically, mass murderer, Janet Reno remains free today, and STILL no warrants for her arrest have been issued.

The killing began on August 21. First the feds shot Striker, the yellow lab. Next they shot 14 year old Sam in the back. The next day a sniper shot Vicki while she was holding the weavers baby, Elisheba in her arms. A few years ago I got to talk to Randy at a gun show. We taled about how we lived in the same area when we were kids, (we don't know/remember if we ever met back then)we talked about being worried about getting the bills paid and the kids and grand kids. He is no different from any of us.Thats what I feel is frightening. One of my favorite books was written by Randy and his Daughter Sara 'The Federal Siege At Ruby Ridge'excellent reading. It tells what happened in their own words. Their story is one we should never forget.

Janet Reno and the Clinton 'administration' were far worse 'terrorists' than these liberal hippies in LA claim Bush is. I don't think overall policy had anything to do with this event. Janet Reno was a murderous nutcase and her immoral, lying, perjuring commander-in-chief did nothing to stop her.

I would say it was the sloppiest raid in US history. The death of scores of woman and children held up the the Branch Davidian compound in Waco Texas. This along with Ruby Ridge is what prompted Timothy Mcviegh to plan the Oklahoma City bombing.

I have a poll in my blog about the Mayor of Salt Lake leading the protest against President Bush, during the Presidents visit. Come vote on it if you like. We need some conservative votes.

I think that the comments specifically calling Janet Reno a terrorist are quite a bit out of line. As much as I dislike President Bush, I'd never call him a terrorist or anything that vile. Anyway, since I don't know much about Ruby Ridge (I was 7 at the time), I'll reserve any judgment.

I do have one request, however. I've started up a discussion on my blog about what Democrats specifically (but any opinion is welcome) should do about Iraq. The link can be found here and your thoughts are welcomed.

Just one quick note I really hate to point out, but in 1992, Clinton hadn't been elected yet, so Ruby Ridge actually happened on Bush Sr.'s watch. (And trust me, I absolutley hate to admit it.)

But that being said, it seems Jante Reno and Bill Clinton learned nothing from the previous administration.

Without knowing all the details, I did see part of the movie earlier referenced, the shooting was certainly a trajedy. But let's face it, as the U.S. moves towards socialism, freedoms will diminish.
