Why Are Gas Prices So High?

I read an Austin American-Statesman article that tries to explain why you are spending so much to fill your tank. I feel I already knew the answer. Greed.

The above is a link to a weekly update of gas prices. Greed, of course, is the answer. You and I are spending so much to fill our tanks because of our own greed for cheap energy. I don't believe in the straw man lazily slurred as "oil baron" for it is the business of energy companies to sell energy rather than withhold it. Increasingly energy is not as cheap as it once was. Who should bear the costs? Myself as the taxpayer, Myself as the shareholder, or Myself as I modify my driving habits. I'd rather sit at home a few evenings.
