Question Of The Week, 11/23/08

Good morning. So far this has been a sad deer season, all I've seen is tracks. I'm pretty sure I've ask this weeks question before. I want to ask it again to make sure none of us forget the answer. This weeks Question Of The Week is. What is the purpose of the Federal Government?

I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Tuesday morning.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

Our Constitution's Preamble states the general principles, the Articles the details.

Beyond that, powers are reserved to the people or the states. See Amendments 9 and 10.

Over the years, the federal government has acquired greater and greater power. We're moving further and further down the line of the Nanny State. A good book on that topic is The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Constitution.

Deer season opens here this week, I think.

As of late I have been hearing the phrase of Nanny State. Referring to the Government and how they are parent to the citizens...Wow! They are taking on a lot of responsibility, but with the present thinking. I see where they get. Let the Government take care of it...or should I say me...... We allowed this to happen. I remember when I first started working for Health and Human Services. The thought process being dished out at that time was. It is my right to have the government give me money to take care of me......MY RIGHT...It was described as an entitlement........That should give you an idea of what people were being fed in the early 1970's. It is prevelant today....in all walks of life. I deserve it...It is my right. I am a victim.....and I ramble. stay well....

First I want to thank you for stopping by to answer this weeks question. "What is the purpose of the Federal Government?"I feel the Preamble to the United States Constitution explains that very well. "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." I'm afraid the Preamble and the rest of the Constitution are under attack. It is up to us (We The People) to defend it daily or we will lose our Republic a gift left to us by our Founding Fathers.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

I'm still working on why anybody'd want to kill a beautiful deer...but I know that's not a popular stance. Sorry! I'm a city slicker and can't get the whole thing into my brain!!

Seems like it's open season on our constitution...maybe the federal govt's work ought to begin with ensuring nothing ever happens to it?! Did I GUESS RIGHT? (Smile)

Happy Thanksigiving to you and yours!

Z,

The hunter actually provides a service by keeping the size of the herd down the deer are less likely to contact and spread disease. Plus I'm unemployed and sometimes hungry, and I don't like to ask the government for help.

Yes our Constitution is under attack. "We The People" can help protect it by drawing attention to a special day next month. December 15 is Bill Of Rights Day. I have a post on that subject scheduled for December 1.

I want to wish you all a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.
