Looking For An Antidote For The Bacteria Of Stupidity

There has just been something about Tony Blankley that I have liked for a long time. So I wanted to read his August 30, 2006 Townhall.com column, "The bacteria of stupidity" before I went to bed this morning. Even before I got to the part in the column that says, "We have all been attacked by the bacteria of stupidity.""We have lost our sense of direction and we don't know where we're headed." I had started to think this is not just a regional thing he is talking about here, this is a world wide epidemic. I think this bacteria effects people in different parts of the world differently. For instance, every election year here in the United States it could cause people to make comments like, "Well I'm just going to vote for the lesser of the two evils",(they feel they can't vote for a candidate that doesn't have a Rep. or Dem. before their name) and really believe they have no other choice. That doesn't mean these people are stupid, it just means the bacteria is starting to effect them. I believe it can be beat. It will take some hard work on your part if you have started to feel it's effects. What I feel you need to do is sit down and read every article you can find on independent or third party candidates. Find out what their positions are on issues that interest you. Study the platforms of the third parties, see if you agree with them. Then when Election Day rolls around see if you still have that uncontrollable urge to vote for a candidate just because of that Dem. or Rep. before their name.

If you know of any other antidotes or home remedies for this fast moving bacteria please leave them in the Comment Section. I'm afraid there is very little time left before it becomes unstoppable.

Question Of The Week, 8/27/06

Good Morning. It's taken me about two hours to get here. Just like last week, there is too much going on. The FBI has served a second search warrant on the Buchanan County, Missouri public administrator's office. The public administrator recently resigned, after someone started asking questions about missing funds. What makes this so interesting is the fact that the person that held the office before her resigned and then committed suicide because of missing funds. So I'm wondering if there are any staff members that were there for both administrations and thinking about a trip I'll be taking in a couple of weeks. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions when I get back home. It seems like it was a couple of weeks ago that I read an article (I wish I could find it again) that said the whole idea of combining the United States with Canada and Mexico to form a superstate, The North American Union was just a bunch of hype. So, this weeks Question Of The Week is. Is there a plan to do away with the United States, Canada and Mexico as we know them to create a superstate, or is this another conspiracy theory? I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

Our Annual Day Trip

It's almost that time again. Labor Day is almost here, but that's just an extra day off from work, a big day for drunks and a chance for the police to write some extra tickets. It's the weekend after Labor Day that I'm looking forward to. Every year we go to Skidmore, Missouri's Freedom Fest. It gives us a chance to see some old friends that we usually only see once a year and maybe make some new ones. Best of all it's a chance to shake hands with and thank some of the finest people you could possibly meet. Men and Women that have served in all branches of the United States Military. Skidmore, Missouri sets the weekend after Labor Day aside to honor each of them every year. I wish all of you could be there.

Attention Busy Parents

When I first read the August 22,2006 column, San Diego Teachers Bringing Kids to 'Gay Pride Event by Jim Brown at Agapepress I thought I sure do hope these teachers are now or soon will be looking for new jobs. Then I started thinking back to when there were school age children in our home. Before they could go on any kind of a field trip they had to bring a permission slip home, have it signed by a parent or guardian and return it to their teacher. Maybe it's just me, I never would have signed a permission slip so a child of mine could attend a gay pride event. Now I'm thinking that maybe today's parents are just to busy having to work two jobs to make ends meet to take the time to read these slips before signing them. I don't know, I just have a problem here. Why would the teachers want to take children to something like this and why would a parent allow it?

August 21, 1992

I subscribe to a couple of what happened on this day in history e-mail messages. I was just a little ticked off today when I opened the one from ArcaMax Publishing and found, "In 1992, fugitive neo-Nazi leader Randall Weaver opened fire on U.S. marshals from inside his Idaho mountaintop home. His wife and teenage son and a deputy marshal died during the 11-day standoff". Randy and I lived in the same area (around Villisca, Iowa) when we were children. We can't remember if we knew each other back then. That was one of many things we talked about when we met a few years ago. When I was talking with Randy I didn't get the feeling that I was talking with a "neo-Nazi leader". I felt that I was talking with someone who loved his family very much and took them to the mountains because he didn't what his children exposed to all the problems teenagers have in large cites. I'm sure most of you know, but in case you have forgotten, check out what really happened around August 21, 1992.

Rest In Peace Vicki and Sammy.

Question Of The Week, 8/20/06

Good morning. Picking a subject for this weeks question was not easy. There were several things to choose from. Did John Mark Karr really kill JonBenet Ramsey? Everything I've seen about this leaves me with more questions than answers. Are we more likely to be attacked by terrorist now that U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor has issued a ruling that says warrantless wiretapping is an unconstitutional infringement on our rights to privacy and free speech? A couple of e-mails I received this week have caused me to put those questions on the back burner for now. The first one came from the pro-Second Amendment organization, Jews For The Preservation Of Firearms Ownership. It tells about a Seattle woman that is calling for more gun control after being injured during a shooting at the Jewish Federation offices last month. The second one, a Townhall.com column by Cam Edwards, An end to the 2nd Amendment?, tells about a Camden, New Jersey English teacher that feels there is no longer a need for the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. So, this weeks Question Of The Week is. Has the time come to scrap the Second Amendment, turn in all legally owned firearms and count on law enforcement officers to keep us safe? I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

Presidential Pardon

After I posted,"Pardon The Border Patrol Agents For Doing Their Job" yesterday I found out that Devvy Kidd had published a column about United States Border Patrol Agents, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean being punished for doing their jobs, protect our southern border. Devvy says she hasn't seen a thing about this outrageous action on "mainstream" television. We don't have our television hooked up so I didn't know this was another ignored news story. Most of my co-workers watch television everyday. They can all tell you about the most recent outrage that took place. Poor officiating during the last football or baseball game they watched. I'd almost be willing to bet none of them have ever heard of Ignacio Ramos or Jose Alonso Compean unless there is a sports figure with the same name. Yesterday I ask you to sign a petition calling for President Bush to pardon these two Border Patrol Agents. Devvy is also asking you to take some action to help them, I hope you will check out her column to see what you can do. Lets see if we can keep the White House Switchboard: 202-456-1414 and Fax Line: 202-456-2461 tied up until these two men are free and their names have been cleared. While your at it you might want to contact your local news papers, television and radio stations. Ask them why this matter wasn't news worthy? Time to get to work.

Pardon The Border Patrol Agents For Doing Their Job

Two United States Border Patrol Agents have been found guilty, and now face prison terms of upwards of 20 years for doing their jobs-apprehending an illegal alien at our border!

Even more outrageous, this illegal alien is suing the United States for $5 million for violating his civil rights! I wasn't aware of the fact that someone that broke the law by entering our country illegally had any civil rights but apparently they have more rights than United States citizens or the federal agents that are trying to protect us.

My wife and I have signed a petition calling for President Bush to pardon these two Border Agents. Now we're asking you to read the full story and sign the petition.

Question Of The Week, 8/13/06

Good morning. I'm a little tired right now so I'm going to make this as short as possible. An August 10, 2006 Washington Times Commentary, Winds of disenchantment, By Donald Lambro leads me to believe that some American voters are finally getting fed up with politics as usual. Sounds like some die hard supporters of both party's have had enough. So this weeks Question Of The Week is. Could the next election be the end of the so called two party system? Could this disenchantment be just what was needed to get some Independent or "Third Party" candidates elected?
I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

11 Missing

I just read a News Max article about eleven Egyptian students that went missing after they arrived in the United States last month. The FBI is looking for them, but they say the only thing they have done wrong is "not show up for a scheduled academic program". The FBI doesn't seem to feel that they are any kind of a threat. It seems to me that it is always the ones that seem so innocent that commit the worst crimes. The article makes it sound like they will be sent home, if and when the FBI catches them. Then you read this CNS News article that says almost half of the illegal aliens that come from terrorist-sponsoring or "special interest" nations are released after their apprehension. After I read the two articles back to back I started thinking about what it would be like to be an FBI agent out looking for eleven suspected illegal aliens knowing that there was a good possibility of them being released after they were brought in. I think it would be pretty hard for them to put 100% into their efforts knowing this. I think law enforcement agents might put a little more into their work if our elected officials would fix the broken immigration policy so their efforts would pay off.

Question Of The Week, 8/6/06

Good morning. It has been real busy around here for the last couple of days. If your interested in what caused that see the post below this one. I'm still trying to catch up on my incoming e-mail. Every Saturday I record The National Debt, I'll e-mail a copy of that file to anyone that is interested on New Years Day, I'll mention that again when the date gets a little closer. After I'd updated that file I found two articles in my e-mail,here and here that helped me decide what this weeks Question Of The Week would be. So, now that you have read them this weeks Question Of The Week is. Is there another Great Depression in our near future? I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

Who'll Control Cuba

Over the past couple of days I've seen several articles like, "Castro relationship with U.S. has long been rocky", that tell about what it was like to live in Castro's Cuba and make predictions about what it will be like after he is gone. I was born on Castro's 24th birthday, (8/13/50) so I can't really remember a Castro free Cuba. All of the recent articles I have seen makes it sound like some of our elected officials are pretty excited about the possibility of Castro stepping down permanently, or dying. I can't help but wonder. Do they feel Castro's Cuba is a threat to our national security? Or do they feel this could be a chance to find some more cheap labor if they can find a way to play a part in putting Cubas next leader in office?

Just A thought.
