Back To 8/17/05

When I posted a message about a plan to ban Pit Bulls in California back on 8/17/05 I had no idea that there were almost as many plans to regulate dog ownership as there are to get rid of the Second Amendment. Yesterday my Daughter forwarded an e-mail to me that tells about breed specific legislation in Illinois, Wisconsin and Colorado.

"We are facing three important breed specific bills in the United States soon.

(1) Illinois.

Bill SB 1790, sponsored by Sen. Martin Sandoval, would label these breeds as dangerous: "pit bull", Doberman Pinscher, Rottweiler, German Shepherd dog, Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Chow Chow, Great Dane, St. Bernard and Akita. All dogs of these breeds will have to be spayed or neutered. There is no exemption for conformation dogs. Owners are required to license their dogs with the state and hold "canine liability insurance". The bill passed the first reading, has now been re-referred to the "Rules Committee" (3-18)

The DPCA (Doberman Pinscher Club of America) has no State Director for Illinois. I request that an Illinois resident come forward to lead the effort in behalf of the DPCA to defeat this legislation in Illinois.

(2) Wisconsin

In April, Trempealu County, Wisconsin passed an ordinance requiring registration of dogs deemed dangerous by the sheriff or belonging to one of several breeds, including Dobermans and Rottweilers.

The Board may take a second look at what it considers a dangerous dog.

Chairwoman Barbara Semb said no one has registered a dog yet.

With the urging of Semb, the County Board's Law Enforcement Committee agreed to "take another look" at the ordinance at its Nov. 21 meeting.

The DPCA has no Wisconsin State Director. I request that a Wisconsin resident come forward to lead the effort in behalf of the DPCA to defeat this legislation in Wisconsin.

(3)Aurora.

The DPCA Legislative Committee is assembling an ad hoc committee to address the possible BSL (breed specific legislation) in Aurora, Colorado, the site of the 2006 DPCA National Specialty. We currently have two people who have agreed to serve on this committee. We need additional volunteers- particularly Colorado residents-who will agree to serve on the Aurora BSL Committee to help us use the National Specialty in a manner that will assist us in turning back BSL there and in Denver.

If you are willing to step forward for the protection of our breed in any of the areas set forth above, please e-mail me directly at: jurisdobes@gmail.com

Cordially,

Jeff Helsdon
Legislative Director
Doberman Pinscher Club of America."

In past post I have mentioned a Rottweiler that was once a loved member of our family, (Rest In Peace Patriot) we now have a Siberian Husky. I see they have made the list in Illinois. If you were to try and convince our neighbors that she was a danger to them or their Grand Children they would laugh in your face. Since we moved in here about five years ago she has made a change in their lives. They have added dog treats to their shopping list. If anything ever happened to us I'm sure she would have a home with them. I got some BSL links I hope you will check out. I hope you will look at all of them, but if you don't have the time at least check out Find The Pitbull. It's a little test to see if you could identify a Pit Bull, you might be surprised. I want to ask you to do me a favor. If you hear of any BSL in your area contact the bills sponsor and ask him or her to send you something that will prove all dogs of any breed are dangerous. Leave a link to the proof in the Comment Section of this post. I'm convinced that BSL is all about money. Lets see if your elected official can prove me wrong.

Question Of The Week, 11/27/05

Good morning, I hope all of you had a nice Thanksgiving. Because of my strange work schedule and the Holiday I was off work from 11:PM this past Monday until 3:PM yesterday. I hated having to go back. This weeks Question Of The Week is. What is the meaning of the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."? I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

8/17/05 Follow Up

On August 17, 2005 I posted a message about some information my Daughter sent me about a planned Pit Bull ban in California. If I'm not mistaken it passed. I wonder just how many people were forced to give up the family pet? When I posted that message I said that if it passed in California it could spread to other states. Today she e-mailed me a message about a Missouri Pit Bull and Rottweiler ban. In that original message I also mentioned a Rottweiler that we used to have, (Rest In Peace Patriot) he was a great play mate and friend to our three year old Grand Daughter. I never worried about leaving her in the dog run alone with him and you will never convince me that a dog is vicious because of it's breed. If a dog is vicious it is because of it's training, or lack of training and care. In the original message I also mentioned the possibility of the so called vicious breed list growing. The last seven paragraphs makes it pretty apparent, that is what is happening now. I wonder, will your little friend that is lying at your feet right now be on the next list? I've found a follow up article to the one my Daughter sent me today. This one also shows how the bans are spreading, and it shows that the recent Missouri ban had nothing to do with a dog attack. It was all about something that might happen. This should come as no surprise when you think about how many people there are that would like you to believe that all firearms owners are crazed killers waiting for the situation that will set them off. If you feel any breed of dog should be banned because it might be vicious I have something I'd like you to think about. There are a lot of people that own and operate motor vehicles that have been known to consume alcohol. They have never been arrested for drinking while driving and no one has ever seen them drive after having a drink. They might in the future. Maybe we should consider banning anyone that has been known to consume alcohol from ever owning or operating a motor vehicle. That makes as much sense to me as banning a dog breed does. What would make even more sense would be to tell our law makers at all levels no more. It's past time for them to stop trying to regulate everything in our lives.

Border Security Needed

I've known for some time that my United States Representative, Sam Graves (Rep-Mo) has supported a moratorium on immigration until our broken immigration policies are fixed. Tonight I found out that one of my United States Senators, Jim Talent (Rep-Mo) is getting serious about our wide open border problem. He sees it for what it is, a threat to our national security. It's beginning to look like this could turn out to be a major issue in the next presidential campaign. More and more of our elected officials are starting to take it seriously.

Interesting New Blog Site On The Block

I just got an E-mail from the grassroots organization called Downsize DC. Their name comes from what they support, a smaller federal government that does what our Founding Fathers intended. The folks at Downsize DC support the idea of a federal government and elected officials that work for you. The purpose of the E-mail was to let everyone know they now have their own blog site. If you like the idea of a smaller federal government that works for the people I would suggest you make their web site and their new blog site a part of your daily reading.

Question Of The Week, 11/20/05

Good morning. Once again I'm glad I had came up with the idea of doing this series of questions. Late Friday night I started getting a migraine and I still have it. I should be ready to go to work this afternoon. This weeks Question Of The Week is. What is the meaning of the Third Amendment to the United States Constitution,"No soldier shall, in time of peace, be quartered in any house without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war but in a manner to be prescribed by law." I will post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

Can A Nation Survive Treason From Within?

I know I've mentioned my old friend Jeffrey Bennetts web-site the, Federal Observer and his on-line broadcast, Perspectives On America in the past. Jeffs programs will always give you something to think about. I think Jeff out did his self with his Tuesday November, 15, 2005 broadcast. I listened to it live at 7:PM cst and I'm listening to it again as I write this. Tonight's program leaves you wondering how much longer our Republic can survive the on going attack of the traitors within.

You can listen to Perspectives On America live every week night at 7:PM cst by going to the Federal Observer and clicking on, On The Air, Jeffs chat room is opened at that time so you can be a part of the program. You can listen to all of Jeffs past programs at his archives. Please don't miss the November, 15, 2005 broadcast.

Question Of The Week, 11/13/05

Good morning. I'm kind of liking this idea of having the series of related questions. I don't have to search the news wires to get an idea, just get out the Constitution. This weeks Question Of The Week is. What is the meaning of (The Second Amendment) "A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."? I'll post my answer in the Comment Section Monday night.

Veterans Day, 2005

Good morning. Before this day is over I hope you will get the chance to thank someone that has served in the Army, the USMC, the Air Force, the Navy or the Coast Guard. These brave men and women have laid their lives on the line for each of us. This would be a great time to Welcome each of them home and thank them for their efforts. Some time today I'll be stopping by to visit the U.S.S. South Dakota. One of my Uncles (That I never got to meet ) served on her during World War Two If you are interested in seeing a photo of him go to Photo Page 3, scroll to the sixth row down. My Uncle Richard L.Goforth is second from the left. My last two post were also about Veterans and Veterans Day that should show you how I feel about Veterans Day and the special people we are honoring and remembering today.

The Grinch That Stole Veterans Day

On November 7, 2005 I posted a message that told a little bit about how my United States Representative, Sam Graves (R-MO) feels about our Veterans. Tonight I found an article that shows some of our elected officials don't have the respect for them that Sam does. Under the Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee Steve Buyer's plan Veterans service organizations will no longer have a voice at the hearing of the House and Senate Veterans' Affairs Committees. I guess this reminded me of an old cartoon, The Grinch That Stole Christmas, because I heard about it the night before Veterans Day. Since Steve Buyer wants to shut the Veterans out of the hearings maybe we should start calling him the Grinch That Stole Veterans Day.

I want to thank all Veterans for everything they did for their country.

Take A Little Time

I subscribe to my United States Representative Sam Graves (R-MO) news letter STRAIGHT TALK WITH SAM. I don't always agree with him but it is a good way to keep track of what is going on with one of my elected officials in Washington D.C. I do agree with what he has to say in his most resent mailing and I'd like to share this very important message with you.

STRAIGHT TALK WITH SAM (Volume 5,Issue 45)

A Day for Veterans

Last month two mountain climbers, some 13,000 feet above sea level, came across a secret that Mount Mendel Glacier in California had been hiding for 63 years. A World War Two airman had been frozen in the glacier since his plane crashed in 1942. The National Park Service immediately took action to find out the airman's identity and give him a proper burial.

In America we have a duty to remember and care for all of those who serve this country and carried the banner of freedom. Not every soldier who serves our country participates in an epic battle. Every major victory though is made possible by hundreds of smaller, more routine missions.

In Congress, we continue to make sure our veteran's receive the care they were promised. Since I have been in Congress, funding for veterans programs has increased by 42%. We passed concurrent receipt that will benefit more than 250,000 disabled military retirees in the next ten years. More than 90% of veterans receive primary and specialty care within 30 days of their desired date.

We have made a commitment to take care of our veterans. They fought for us and now it's important to me to fight for them. In this time of war we cannot forget those who have fought for liberty's standard in the past.

This Friday we will honor all of our nation's veterans. I hope that you will pause to help remember all those that have served this country.

Sincerely,

Sam Graves
Member of Congress

This Friday there will be parades and events to honor our Veterans in every city and town across this country. I hope you will Take A Little Time and show our Veterans that you do appreciate what they did for you by attending at least one of these events. If you have children in your family it will be the perfect time to teach them a very important lesson, Freedom Is Not Free. I pray God will continue to be with all of our Veterans this Friday and every day. Let them know they have not been forgotten. Please be with the friends and family members of the ones that didn't get to come home. Give them the strength they need to carry on without their loved ones.

AMEN

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

Wild And Free Hogs

I feel that some of the most dependent people on the face of the earth are right here in the United States. They count on the government to provide them with everything they need from the cradle to the grave. One cannot help but wonder how the most independent nation in the world became the most dependent. A friend E-mailed me a story today that helps in figuring that out. I forwarded it to Jerry Hughes and he read it during the first hour of his program. It's not hard to figure out how this happened when you compare the dependent citizens of the United States with the Wild Hogs Of The Okefenokee Swamp. Check it out, then decide if you are free or if you are about to be taken to the market.
